My career in high-performance sports (field hockey) has always been about competing at the highest level. I have participated in three Olympic Games for my country winning two medals, a silver in Sydney in 2000 and a bronze in Athens in 2004. The pinnacle for me in my sporting career was becoming World Champion in 2002 and subsequently being recognized as the worlds best player.

After my career as a player I obtained my international coaching degrees in order to transfer my experience and knowledge as a player into coaching and developing others. I trained and coached various top mens and womens teams in the highest leagues in the Netherlands.

In 2021 I made the leap from the world of sports into the business world, to broaden my horizon and expand my knowledge, and to apply my experiences from high-performance sports in a different realm.

Since that leap, through working in start-ups as well as more established organisations, I have been fascinated by the parallels between the two worlds in terms of processes and energised to find the same team dynamics at play.

The deep sense of dedication, commitment and perseverence from my sporting days, coupled with my natural ability to coordinate people and resources for maximum effectiveness, is something I want to employ in helping organisations with their backoffice and operational challenges.
